The Stonewall Project supports folks who have concerns about their drug and alcohol use and are thinking about making changes. Our harm reduction counseling services center queer, gay, bisexual, and same-gender-loving men; trans and nonbinary folks; and other men who have sex with men.

All goals are welcome and can range from complete abstinence, targeted abstinence, or safer use based on a desire to improve health, relationships, and overall quality of life.

We welcome you wherever you’re at and do not require abstinence for you to receive services.

Our Services

DROP-IN GROUP SERVICES

No intake and no waits. Check out our drop-in virtual and in-person groups, book clubs, social engagement, and holistic healing spaces.

SHORT-TERM, INCENTIVIZED RISK REDUCTION CONSULTATIONS

Low threshold, incentive based short term work with an individual counselor to establish a personalized harm reduction plan.

CONTINGENCY MANAGEMENT

Interested in stopping, reducing, or changing your relationship to meth or cocaine? The Positive Reinforcement Opportunity Project (PROP) provides structure, community, counseling, and financial incentives in a 12 week program for people interested in reducing or quitting their use of crystal meth, cocaine or other stimulants.

ENROLLED COUNSELING PROGRAM

Our support groups provide a safe place to discuss your substance use, build community, and access the collective wisdom of your peers to teach harm reduction skills and help you reach your goals. We ask clients in the enrolled program to attend a minimum of two groups per week. Supplemental individual counseling is accessible as appropriate and depending on counselor availability.

StarVista

StarVista is a nonprofit organization that has been helping people throughout San Mateo County navigate life’s challenges for over 55 years. We offer over 30 counseling, case management, skill development, and crisis prevention programs.

Peninsula Family Service

We offer senior peer counseling for the LGBTQ Community. For San Mateo County residents ages 55 and older. The counselors are trained volunteers.
