The Metropolitan Community church of Washington (MCC-DC) is a Christian Church with a special ministry to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered community.
Our faith is based upon the historic creeds: Apostles' and Nicene. We believe in a Triune God, in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the World, and in the Holy Spirit as the Lord and Giver of Life.
As a member congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), we proclaim God's love for all persons, participate in a ministry of social justice, and advocate the human rights of all persons.
Our authority for ministry comes from God and is revealed through Christ and the Scriptures as God's Inspired Word.
The Sacrament of Baptism by water and the Holy Spirit, for repentance of sins and confession of Jesus as Lord and Savior, is offered to all persons every Sunday in Worship. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered to ALL who seek God's love through Christ. It is our custom to dip the bread into the cup and offer it with personal prayers for God's blessing. You may also receive the elements without prayer if desired. This Sacrament is offered every Sunday in Worship.
Our Response to the Word is a time during which we offer the Sacrament of Baptism and in the tradition of the New Testament Church, the Laying on of Hands and Anointing with Oil for healing of body, mind and spirit. Members of the pastoral staff are available to minister to your needs as you respond to God's Word.
