Studies have shown that students who learn music gain a wide variety of desirable benefits. Learning an instrument teaches the rewards of discipline and delivers a sense of achievement as attainable goals are met repeatedly over time. It accelerates brain development and strengthens memory, language, and reading skills. Playing music can improve mathematical learning and even increase SAT scores. The consistent practice required serves not only improve motor skills and hand-eye coordination it also promotes perseverance, grit, and craftsmanship. This worthwhile pursuit engages the mind in a way that increases the student’s ability to think outside the box, find creative solutions, and stimulates self expression.

We believe the best way to learn music is to play music. Here at School of Rock we specialize in performance based music education. Our students don’t waste years studying music by themselves in a room with an instructor. Right from the start they are working collaboratively with others and making music as a band. Playing with others not only enhances the fun of learning an instrument, it also teaches students how to work together and builds camaraderie. We’ve witnessed many students blossom right before our eyes: they form friendships, gain confidence, and increase their self-esteem as they increase their musical abilities. We take students from the lesson room to the stage where they learn to face their fears, take healthy risks, and reap the rewards that come with that.
